CHILD PROTECTION

We represent parents whose children have been taken into State care.

These matters are dealt with urgently by the Youth Court.

Parents often feel vilified and criticised by the social workers of the welfare authority and the system. We provide a high standard of representation in these matters.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Will my child be returned to my care?

It is often the case that reunification plans can take effect once parents have addressed the issues as identified by the welfare authority.  We try and steer clients and matters towards these outcomes. We strongly believe that every child has a right to live safely with his/her family.

My child is under a 12 month order – s/he will be coming back to me at the end of that time, right?

Only if the Department does not seek a further order, which they will do if you have not addressed the issues as identified by the welfare authority.

My child is under a Guardianship Order to the age of 18 years – can I apply to get my child returned to my care?

Yes, if your circumstances have changed and you have addressed the issues as identified by the welfare authority.

I want a lawyer who believes in me - will you fight for my rights?

We as lawyers maintain a professional relationship with our clients and do not become barrackers for the cause, however we strongly believe in fighting hard for our clients in all situations.
